Talent Show 2007

On the eve of Cinco de Mayo, St. Agnes Boys High School held it's annual Talent Show in the now legendary, off-Broadway Marist Hall. Playing to a somewhat less than sold out crowd, (we were competing with Saturday morning SATs and opening night of Spider Man 3), the Stags put on their best performance yet.

Bravely defying terrible acoustics, a shoddy sound system, and a mere two weeks available for rehearsals, the boys and I (and amazing co-director, fellow teacher, and rock star, Kevin M.) did our best to beat the odds.

Rehearsing on Thursday to an ecstatic crowd,
I was able to capture these images. Senior hosts Chris M. and Clinton M. warm up their comedy routine
The always delightful and sincere freshman Brian P. performed an original Christian rap ("Put your hands up / Light of my life / Word up / If you believe in the Christ")
Heck, we even had a white guy on bass guitar.
As 5:30 rolled around and we had yet to do a complete run through of the show or ever actually meet with all the talent at once, we decided to call it a night and leave the rest to fate. The results were posted on youtube before the weekend is over. I have posted some highlights above (I think).

I love my job....

Clare,I think these are really like your own kids, they're so lucky to have a teacher like you. You're a blessing to every one of them. Wish I had such a cool teacher!

Laurence Cruz has the sweetest voice. And what a charmer. Loved the videos.

("Because of You" - rather, the beginning of "Because of You - reminded me of Andrew and the "show" he preformed for us)
