In my life, I've heard my mother accused of certain things. Was she a little too smothering? Perhaps. A bit of a worrier? Maybe. Overly food-centric? Unquestionably. But in the time it takes to cook a million meals, she would never, ever laugh at her child during a perilous fall. Of course my father would, but not my mother.
And I think Charles is ready to graduate to the escalator.
