Agnes in the News
This is a really terrific article! I think it captures our team and coach well and I think you will enjoy it.
Stags compete in a semifinal game tomorrow at 6pm outside of Albany in what is called the "Tournament of Champions". They will not play the winner of the private school division as I previously thought, but will meet the High School for Law and Justice, the winner of one of the public school divisions in NY. Ironically, Law and Justice HS is located in Park Slope, Brooklyn (essentially our neighborhood). It is one of three high schools that occupy a building that was formally John Jay HS. John Jay was one of those enormous public high schools created in the 60s in NYC that have since been shut down and divided up, due to violence, drugs, and failing graduation rates.
Law and Justice HS is twice our size and undefeated this year. No matter, I think we can do it!! If they win Friday night, they go on to the final Saturday.
Wouldn't it be cool if a tiny Catholic High School won the "Tournament of Champions" in NY? Creative minority? Sort of?
(BTW, the city pays an average of $14,000 a year per high school student; St. Agnes charges $5,500 in tuition a year, making it the cheapest boys HS in Manhattan. Law and Justice has a 39% graduation rate; we have a 100%)

I echo Frank's previous comment: you have to submit this amazing story to be made into a "Movie of the Week" !
