Best Habitat trip so far!We took an absolutely delightful group of juniors and seniors on our annual Habitat trip over Easter break and had a ball. Boarding the bus early Monday morning, we drove 3 hours to Salem County in southern New Jersey to work on a house.
These boys were hilarious, charming, hardworking, and completely obedient--love that combination.
We are fed and housed by local churches (we sleep on the floors of their bible study rooms) and the town YMCA allows us to use their facilities to shower. These people LOVE the Stags, but who wouldn't?
We arrived on Monday morning and received our instructions. Only the foundation of the house was in place, so our first job was to put down the subflooring and do a lot of digging. Once the floor was down, we learned how to frame out walls--really, really fun. Here are some pictures!
Kate and her minions receive instructions.
Day One: The Subflooring
Dig! Dig! Dig!
Day Two: My team (Jaime, Dimitri, and Alex) installs the last piece!
Day Three: Framing Walls. I love this job, but NOT this picture of me. Somehow, though, I thought it would make mom happy. Taking one for the team, Mom.
Laurence digs up a snack. Yum.
Day Four: Pose for St. Agnes Calendar, March.
Kate, Fernando, and me! (Kate and I took Fern on his first Habitat trip 5 years ago when he was a junior! First Stag alum to return and teach.)
Go Stags!

I love these boys.
They really look like such a great group of kids. What fun!!
You're right, Clare, I do like seeing you in these pictures with your boys. You explained to Dad and me what habitat was like this year, what it was you all did. Seeing these pictures really brings it all to life.
Good job, Stags!
