This "original" piece may be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen, and it is meant to be. It is probably impossible to explain the brilliance of it, but I will try.
It started as a phrase about 10 days before the show, grew a back beat and a refrain, developed some amazing choreography, and was polished off with a few verses. The "song" is an ode to our Dean of Discipline who has been at St. Agnes for over 25 years and is the ultimate icon. He is famous for taking their MetroCards (subway cards) when they get in trouble and their most common punishment is to stand, facing the wall, in Marist Hall for some arbitrarily designated period of time to make up for their offense. Old school.
Bob (Dean of Discipline) was in the back when they performed this. He LOVED it!! As did everybody else. When the curtain closed and Bob left, all the boys cheered for him. He just shot them a mean stare and a growl.
(The video was taken by Laurence's mom, so it focuses mostly on him, but you get the point.)
