Christmas Day

I wish we had taken pictures of our Christmas Feast; what a beautiful and bountiful display.  Food ( lots of food), including Maureen's meatballs, Catherine's beef stew, Ma's ham and scalloped  potatoes, Mary's potato omlette and her dates wrappen in bacon, Aloise's stuffed mushrooms, cheeses, nuts, shrimp, olives etc.; drinks (lots of that, too) including Martha's mulled wine, all layed out on both the kitchen and dining room tables.  Two card tables set up in the dining room for sitting and eating and playing games; and good music playing in the background.  Family and friends gathered shortly after 3, many stayed until almost 12.

We began our day with 10 o'clock Mass followed by Christmas breakfast, last minute cooking, a little game playing, Christmas Story on TV (of course) and eventually began to set up for the afternoon/evening festivities.

We had wanted to exchange our own gifts earlier in the day but opted to wait until Charlie woke from his nap so that he could join us.  By then, however, guests had begun to arrive and time got away from us.   Charlie and Luke opened their gifts ( puzzles from Ma and Poppi which you see in the photos) shortly after the Blanchard's arrived.  Besides our own gifts, I had Lita's little stash from Solesmes and our Prayer Cards to hand out.  All these were distributed and opened late afternoon.

And later?  Back to food, drink, conversation and games.

It was a beautiful day.  Peaceful, joyful, serene, fun and lively.

Merry Christmas to All.

I've been quite busy lately, but wanted to comment on all these Christmas posts. They are so great. It really makes me wish I were there, as if I didn't already. Love these pictures.
