Captain and Sun fun in April

 It almost didn't happen.
Dad had called on Monday to tell me that he was going to be in Fla. for an Officer's Mtg., and did I want to join him for a few days?
Yes!
And then yesterday another "Oh, you're kidding me!" day: There was talk that he was going to be sent home this weekend as the Co. was looking into using just one Capt. to babysit both his ship (Mobile) and the New York, set to park next to him tomorrow.
You can only imagine the thud our hearts took.  Never mind Fla....Dad's coming home this weekend would mean that France was most certainly out of the question unless Dad missed his return to sea date ( if that was even possible) and when would he get back on the ship again?
It was a difficult afternoon.   Knowing how the Co. works ( and this time I could see the wisdom in that decision), the odds were good that we'd be seeing Dad this weekend.
And then the phone rang - late afternoon - and Uncle Michael was calling to talk about France, among other things.  I explained to him what was going on and his 'Oh no!" was so hard to listen to.  But as we talked ( and decided that praying to Granner and Lita was the ONLY way to go), my spirits lifted.  We both agreed that this was out of our hands so worrying would serve no good purpose.  And then it occured to me that I could go, even if Dad wasn't able to.  And Michael chimed in, "You could always take Cy-Pete....he has the same name".
This morning Dad phoned, "Are you ready to pack your bags for Fla.?  They didn't kick me off!"
So, YAY, I'm off for a few days.
Lisette remarked last night that I would be leaving during Holy Week, and I do admit to having struggled with that one for a while.  But even last night I was pretty much convinced that none of this was going to happen, so I didn't think about it too much.  Lisette did promise that she would get rooms ready, vacuum and clean the bathroom for wknd Easter guest...so that was very good.
Mentioning Holy Week to Dad this morning, he replied, "Well, we've only been together for under 2 wks since Aug., I think the  Good Lord would understand."
I get back Thursday in plenty of time for Holy Thursday services....and found really good deals on Southwest.
Is it possible that this winter is truly behind us?
:)  :)  :)  :)

It's so nice to have y'all be as happy as we are about this unexpected gift.

Oh My! I don't have to see or think about wood for 4 days! And STILL I'll be warm.

As Maggie would say, "Details". They matter, huh?

And Lisete: don't forget to leave room in the fridge for all that beer...it'll be stocked with FROZEN FOODS for you fools :)
