Lights, Camera, Action!
On Tuesday John Stossel, the host of 20/20, brought his camera crew to Agnes to interview a group of our boys and some girls from another Archdiocesan High School regarding a sponsorship program that pairs willing donors with inner-city students. Sponsors, who pay four years worth of tuition for students, are informed about their student's grades and other school issues and often act as mentors to the young men and women. Out of the 350 boys enrolled at Agnes, over 60 students are funded through through this program.
Stossel is a long-time member of the program and he sponsors multiple students annually. He donated his time and his crew to make a short video that will be used to encourage people to join the program. A 30 second segment will also run as a commercial spot on a local TV station.
(Uncle Bill, surprise, surprise, was a part of this program and actually sponsored one of our students before my time!)
Stossel is pictured below interviewing his new freshman, German. In the recent past, Stossel has has sponosored some hard cases at Agnes. His last Stag spent every summer in summer school and barely graduated. The Stag before that spent a summer in jail. Here's looking to you German...(who is a doll, btw).
Go Stags.
