The Quarterfinals: David and Goliath Style
Spring break is over and it is back to work for my squad! With 8 schools remaining and only one day to prepare, we head into quarterfinal competition tomorrow evening and it should be a good match.
The teams left are heavy hitters and our competition will be very strong and could not be more different than us. One of the most prestigious all-girls schools in the country, this Upper East Side team won both the City and State Championships two years ago and have been regulars in late round competition over the years. Our unofficial scorekeeper and spy, Willy, has a connect on the team via Facebook and reports they have been talking smack about us since the beginning. Apparently they don't believe we can hold up, reasoning that they are taught by *real* lawyers (a.k.a. their parents). Ladies, I will try not to take that as a personal sleight.
The girls will have the advantage of experience in playoff competition on their side, but we have heart and taking down ritzy schools in earlier rounds of competition is helpful at this point. I have no expectations, but we have a right to hope, especially since we have MOVED UP in rank to 4!!!
A win tomorrow places us in semifinal competition on Thursday....GO STAGS!!
