Round 5, "The Little Engine That Could"

Boys are back from retreat and ready to rumble as they move into Round 5 action downtown tonight. We have held on to our #6 ranking (!) and are looking for a victory tonight that will place us officially among the 8 schools left in competition. We argue the Defense again (I think our stronger case) against a large Queens public school.

The teams left in competition are heavy hitters and include 4 public schools that are ranked among the top 50 in the country according to US News and World Reports and Newsweek, a bunch of private schools that cost a gazillion dollars in yearly tuition (including the champions from 2 years ago), as well as a Jewish school that lost $6,000,000!!! to Bernie Madoff and told the NYTimes, "No worries, it was just a small part of our endowment."

Jeez Louise. Endowment? I got $300 in fives and singles from our last dress down day locked in the closet at the back of my classroom....

This is unchartered territory for us...say a prayer! And the secret to becoming this good as a team? Allow boys to practice while throwing things. Works wonders.

Go Stags, Go Stags, Go Stags!
