Having stripped Catholicism of it's Beauty we have denuded it and left it impotent. But I think it has become worse than powerless, we pity the powerless sometimes.
Instead, in the form that it is presented in most parishes and schools at least, it has become foolish--hallowed out. Where impotence can illicit pity, foolishness illicits revulsion and derision.
It is why I tell those struggling to find their way to a vital faith to read Peguy. His simple beauty breaks down the barriers.
I don't know why, but this article made me cry (what else is new). Clare, as soon as I finish the Welsh book you got me (it's good, btdubs) I'd like to borrow some Peguy.

Now I understand what you mean when you say B16's liturgical reforms/renewals are a prime source of hope for this world: mystery.
As Dad always says, Beauty needs no explanation.
