Hitting the streets

I have a new toy. Yesterday, after coming back home from spending the afternoon with Luke, I found a Garmin GPS system on the kitchen table with a note that read, "This came in the mail for you today, from a friend".

Dad purchased his Garmin some weeks ago. Having to navigate the streets of Boston can be a nightmare in itself; take one wrong turn and you can easily spend an eternity before you turn yourself around. I had the chance to use Dad's GPS last week while Aloise and I visited Paul. And it was a good thing we had it with us. "If you miss the turn (which we did), she'll take you where you want to go", said Dad, "Don't worry, you'll get there".
And, hahaha, I used Dad's Garmin to find Luke's school yesterday. The last time I went to pick up Luke, I took a wrong turn.
So, riding home yesterday, it occurred to me that my own Garmin might come in handy. But I immediately rejected that idea. I mean, how often would I really need it..and 2 Gramins in one household ? Maybe not.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Dad got me my own b'c he doesn't like to be without his. You know, on the off chance that I might have wanted to borrow it again. He did admit - rather amused at himself - that he had felt the loss of his GPS when Aloise and I borrowed it. But I know he bought it for me b'c I'm his girlfriend and he doesn't want to loose me.

Did we tell you we are returning to Solesmes this Spring? Not the 2 week trip we made last year but a week in Solesmes plus 2 days traveling.
Ms. Garmin is international if you want her to be. Dad's has maps of Europe.

Below you'll see the email exchange from Dad to Uncle Michael. It still makes me laugh...although it shouldn't.
PS I LOVE my toy!
We're planning our ANNUAL TRIP to Solesmes and are looking at the last week in May like last year. How does your schedule look -- any retreats or such planned? Bye-the bye, I have a new GPS car navigation system which has European maps included, so we can go ANYWHERE. I got a vibe from your father on this, and he is not pleased.
Cy, this is magnificent news! Nothing wrong with end of May on my end. Au contraire. As for GPS, I always remind people that a busload of Polish pilgrims to the marian shrine of La Salette went crashing over a cliff to their death two years ago. It was later established that the driver had been following the directions of the GPS which showed a real road, but one wholly unsuitable for buses. I'd go with Papa's vibes: apparently, Mary won't lift a finger. xxm
