Maggie's Birthday Album

The day before her birthday we took her to her first movie. The local theater has old kid's movies for $1 every Tuesday morning for camps and such...but we got to take advantage of it.
It ended up being a good way to test the waters since she did want to leave and come back. We had a good time.

On her actual birthday after putting a candle on nearly every dish of food and singing Happy Birthday all day, we spent the evening on a pirate ship.

A marina down the road has a ship that's outfitted to look like a pirate ship and kids get costumes and makeup so they can fit in. We also brought her hat and sword from Halloween.

The crew instructs the "pirates" in how to speak and how to act on board, and the ship sails out into the bay.

We quickly discover that another pirate has stolen our treasure and hidden it in the water.

The kids attack the pirate with water. Maggie loved this part.

The crew opens a huge canvass map and has to look for landmarks around the shore, and then a big chest is hauled from the water onto the ship and each kid gets to take a handful of treasure.
It was a lot of fun.
Sunday was her party.

Flowers were the theme of the day.

The kids played in the sprinkler while the adults broke a sweat. Charlie and Catherine loved the water.
Maggie had no interest:) That could have been because she was so excited that after being up for 4 hours she still hadn't eaten anything!

We did pin the tail on the donkey,

colored portraits on the walls,

and then had dessert...flowers, of course.

After Maggie's friends left, the cousins stayed to go in the pool.
Adela, you're so cute!

And after the dust settled a very tired Maggie (half dressed) requested to wear a party hat (which we forgot during the party) flopped down in front of Cinderella...while I cleaned the house.

What a fun party. You did such a nice job of it, Norm, I was very impressed. And Charlie, Catherine, and Adela had a blizzast.

I want a party like that.
Really.
Who wouldn't want to ride a pirate ship, draw on walls and eat flowers?

Very cool post, Nora!
