Have any of you seen or heard Father Robert Barron? He has a wonderful site with his videos and talks (his podcasts are perfect for the long drive). I highly recommend him to you as a great and challenging preacher. It doesn't hurt that he mentions Hans Urs Von Balthasar from time to time.
You can find him here:
Let's prepare for Christmas this year by digging deeper into our dear Faith.

Thank you, Dad for this!
No really. I just watched this and can't wait to watch more (as in, when I have another moment. 7 minutes is apparently too long to ignore my children. They are chanting "graham cracker, hungry!" at me right now.)
that's because you insist on feeding them gluten - it angries up the blood.
Oh, I don't know Frank. Consuming gluten just neologies up my blood.
Although sometimes it phlegmaties it (my blood, that is).
On the other hand, great care should be taken in combining different foods. Gluten and bourbon taken at the same time will frequently silly the circulating humors.
Every blessing you have, give it away immediately or it's not yours...
So much more radical than it sounds on the surface, no?
This closest I come to this concept is what I learned - when we lived in SC - from St. Louis de Monfort's book on the Consecration to Our Blessed Mother.
His chief emphasis is that ALL graces go through Mary. By consecrating yourself to Her, you commit yourself to the idea that anytime you pray, Mary will assign the graces of that prayer to whomever is in greatest need. In other words, she knows who needs your prayers (and graces?) - and She will USE you and your efforts ( sacrifices, spiritual works, etc) to distribute the "good" where it is mostly needed. By consecrating yourself to Our Lady, you forfeit yourself for the good of another.
It's powerful. It grants such freedom. You pray, you ask, you do...and then you hand it over to Her, in full knowledge and trust.
