Last week, as soon as we arrive at the house, Leo expresses that he would sure like some applesauce. This is after, at his house, he announces, "I love going to your house Ma! Your'e going to have the heat on, right?"
Anyway, there I am in the kitchen thawing out his sausage link (for lunch) while he quietly sits at the table ("Can I have the fish mat today?") and eats his applesauce.
The silence is broken with, "Ma, I really like this room", uttered with such surety that I have to mask a laugh: Leo has grown up in "this room" - he exclaims his liking as though he were a newcomer here.
"You DO?", I answer, "What a nice thing to say."
A few seconds pass and he expounds: "Yeah, it's quiet and peaceful here."
You should have lived here when you mom was growing up. You'd have a decidedly different opinion, I think, but don't say.
More time passes.
"Yeah", Leo again comments in a deliberate tone, looking around the room, very serious, very contemplative, "I think it's the wall color."
Not much later, Dad walks in the room. "Leo!", he says, "How are you my boy?"
"Poppi", Leo answers, very serious but, as always, the epitome of genuine politeness, "I don't want to talk now. I need some alone time."
Leo had been with me all of 20 minutes and already he had made my day :)

I love these posts. Who invented this boy?
Also, I heard that yesterday Leo asked Dad what he was doing in the garden, so Dad said "Leo, I don't want to talk now. I need some alone time."
"Well, that's not very nice" said Leo.
Mind you, what I didn't write was that Leo "dissed" (although kindly) Dad 2x that day.
In the game room, Leo and I were coloring. Dad walked in and asked was it a good time to talk now?
Leo, barely looking up from his coloring book, replied,
"Poppi, I don't think so. I'm coloring with Ma now and need some alone time with her", at which point he looked my way and added, "Don't you think?"
I was going to post Dad's come back (Lisette's post) in what will be my on-going "Wednesdays with Leo", and then report that the 2 had made up. I have a picture to prove it, which will follow with my post :)
