The other day Martha brought Lucia here for a visit. Dad - who hadn't slept well for 2 nights - was just emerging from his nap. Nap-time affects Dad like it does the rest of us: don't talk to me til I wake up. Lucia was in the exerciser when Dad walked into the kitchen with his cup of coffee. She did her "Lucia" squeal when she saw him. Dad promptly looked down on her and greeted her. When he stood up, Lucia squealed some more. I asked him to pick her up, which he did. They "talked" and played for a bit. I knew Dad really needed his coffee by then so I took her from his arms and placed her on the floor. Bad Move! Dad walked into the kitchen and Lucia scooted as fast as she could, stretched her head past the stove as far as it could go to see Dad, and scooted even faster in an attempt to get to him. All the while, mind you, whining for Dad. Dad later commented, laughing, "That Lucia! She never used to give me the time of day, but today..."
