Thanks to all of you who sponsored and helped to sponsor me for the Walk-a-Thon yesterday.
It was a beautiful day for a walk :)
Martha and Lucia joined me, Lucia falling asleep 1/2 way into the first mile.
As we drove in, cars were stopped in front of us, orange cones on the road and groups of grown-ups and kids on opposite sides of the street, asking for donations.
I later heard that the cop assigned to monitor things that day was quite taken by our cause. He was the one who laid down the cones to make sure the cars stopped. He caught a driver using a cell phone, and another without a seat belt. When each man rolled down his window, the cop asked, "Fine or donation?" He then proceeded to join the grown-ups and kids, asking for donations to a "beautiful cause".

What a cute story about the cop! I sometimes think, what a pain for people to have to fundraise -- why not just ask people for cash?
But the public exposure that fundraising events garner is worth it.
