The Magic of Flowers

After such a heavy hearted week, working with flowers becomes a welcomed comfort:

This is the second year Dad has taken over the task of picking up, sorting, cutting and separating into buckets the carnations used for our 1st Way Mother's Day flower sale.
Every parish in Enfield sells the flowers and reps from each parish make their way to our house to pick them up (after Dad has called to tell them they're ready) for Saturday and Sunday Masses.
Last year the florist cut the flowers for us; not so this time. So Dad and I spent about 2 hrs. this morning working with 100's of flowers; me sorting and bundling, Dad doing the rest.

The end of the road.  The last 2 bundles of 25. (The flowers on the right are mine - these were the "broken" ones.)

The chopping block. The florist lent this to Dad...good thing!

Distributing flowers into the various buckets.

Some buckets already picked up, these still waiting to go.
