"Ma! We went to 5 places today! Not yet, though. When we go back home it will be 5 places. Now it's only 4."
And so we did.
Another very rainy day and Luca needed a raincoat and boots for his field trip. As often as I've been to Luca's school, I always rely on my GPS to get me there. So I plugged it in as we left Annie's but Garmin's satellite would not cooperate. I voiced this out loud as I drove towards Luca's school (remembering most of the way) and Leo caught on. "It'll work, Ma. You just have to be patient".
I was a bit nervous because I knew Luca was probably leaving soon (and, stop #2 was Martha's as I was going to watch Lucia for awhile) so that I was on a tight schedule.
Coming to the end of the first lap, Leo threw up his hands and announced (with what appeared to be tremendous relief), "You DID it, Ma! You didn't get lost!"
And that's when I remembered, again, that little heads work differently than ours: Leo was probably v-e-r-y nervous that I would not find my way and maybe we'd be riding around in the car and we might never make it home again!
Turns out I knew exactly where I was going; by the time Garmin got her act together I was pulling into Luca's school.
Place 3 was Geislers. I needed fresh "spicy (seltzer) water" for Leo's juice drink and Leo was thrilled to come with me. Walking out from the store, Leo laughed. "Now we're going to your house. Place 4!"
We spent our time indoors, coloring and playing monsters and watching a show.
When I returned from Annie's, the sun was peeking out and there was Dad working on the patio steps. (And you thought he was kidding when we talked about these)
The patio is all done. But I won't post the results until the geraniums Dad grew from seed begin to flower.

Looks beautiful Dad. Happy Father's Day to the best one out there.
Mom, Can't wait to see your flowers.
...can't wait to see you all next month :)
I love that picture. Lucia's bulbous head. Yum.
