At The Rodeo

Once upon a time, there were two cowboys.  One was named Bart and the other was named Gideon.  Bart was nicknamed “Black Bart”.  He had a black streak mask that was covering his face. Gideon was tall and handsome.  One day they were racing in a horse race.   When they were ready to race, they went to the starting line.  Then the announcer yelled, “On your marks, get set, go!” Then they were off.  At first, they had to jump over hurdles.  They jumped one hurdle after another. The horses looked like maniacs.  They were making funny faces.  Then, suddenly they saw the deadliest obstacles of all. Rattlesnakes!  “Uh oh!’’ panicked Bart.   They galloped around the snakes avoiding the danger.  Then when they got to the last hurdle,  a pond jump, something crazy happened. Bart broke the rules by ending up in the water with his horse. Gideon jumped over the pond with his horse under his bottom.  Gideon commanded “Gideon-up!” And they flew through the water. Since they both broke the rules, they had to start over. They went back to the starting line. The announcer yelled for one last time, “On your mark, get set, GO!!!!!!!!!!” Then they followed the rules. The results were Bart lost and Gideon won.  Gideon won a prize.  It was a golden horse trophy.  Gideon was excited because he was the winner, but Bart felt terrible because he broke the rules and lost. Looking back, Gideon and Bart learned that if you do not listen to the rules you won’t win. The End
