I had suuuuch a goood time, broken toe/foot and all. And I was well taken care of by Tomasita, Johnny and Carmen :)
OMG the memories. I was able to visit most of my old haunts in Avila (stayed there 3 days) and visited with my best friend, Marisa, as well as with Julianna (she and I glued to the hip when I spent my first summer there in '68 - she now married and living in Avila). Tomasita was a joy to be with ~ we have such a special relationship. All in all, I could not have envisioned a better time in Avila. In many ways it was as though I had just been away for a brief time; it was that easy to get back into the swing of things.
El Escorial ~ I spent Saturday and Sunday there with Johnny and Carmen (where Johnny and Carmen have Trish's House, their version of Tocacielos) was also pure delight. Going to the Monastery (king Philip the 2nd's masterpiece) for Mass on Sunday was an unexpected emotional moment. AS kids we went there for Mass every Sunday. BOth Maureen and Brent made their first communion there and the boys, Michael, Brent and Johnny) went to hight school there after I left my schooling in Avila. El Escorial is also where Granner had the summer Institute (where we first met Dad) and also where Dad and I became engaged.
Between Avila and El Escorial...talk about memories.
But, as always, I am sooo happy to be home again :)
