You're right, Clare. Robert Burns has a phrase: "He's a man for all that." I don't know what he meant, but it says to me that original sin didn't destroy original grace (if only the neo-scholastic pedants had remembered this de Lubac would not have been silenced). This is simply another way of saying that God's love is irrevocable. We are made in the image of God, which can NEVER be effaced. It's the "likeness" part that takes so much work in ourselves and in our gaze at our brothers.

There is something about beautifully done religious Christmas music that just stirs the soul. It's my favorite thing about this season.
