It was Easter Sunday. It was 39 years ago, almost to the hour.
Granny was staying with us, awaiting Cy's birth. She bought Maureen and Clare their Easter dresses and I remember she had to hem them up because they were too long.
Remember our joint birthday parties? It started this day; we celebrated Maureen, Jamie and Clare's birthday's.
Mercedes, Aunt Aloise and Aunt Maureen joined us.
And then it was time for the Easter Egg Hunt :)
By the time the hunt was over, I could see that Clare was feeling poorly.
I also knew that it was close to time for me to be going to the hospital to have the baby.
I remember feeling very, very bad...having to leave Clare. But I knew she's be well taken care of by Granny.
Still. I waited until I could put her down for her nap before I told Dad, "Time to go!"
Just before midnight, the best Easter Gift I could have imagined!

Great post - I have never seen these pictures!
Yes you have :) They're in one of my picture albums.
Funny. Sometimes so many pictures on one page that we really don't look at them.
Ahh. You were sooo sick by the end of that day, Clare. I knew something was wrong when you wouldn't drink the juice in your bottle....which you can see in one of the pics.
IT IS A BEAUTIFUL POST I LOVE IT. THANKS FOR SHARE THOSE MEMORIES.
these pictures are so cool!!!
I wonder why they all purple though! :)
Pics are purple b/c they were taken with my Kodac Instamatic! Cool camera at the time; got it for my 19th birthday.
BUT. As you can see, the final product did not age well.
I don't think they were purple when I put them in the album 39 years ago, though :)
I couldn't comment on this as I was traveling last week, but I really enjoyed this post. Mom, please continue to unearth old photos and share.
I remember how much I used to love going through your albums.
Keep it up :)
