I woke up today ( oh no, it was actually yesterday morning) hoping Brenda wouldn't call to say she was lin labor. I had had a rough night of about 3 hours sleep. This was not a day, I thought, that I would do well by Brenda and Scott for their first baby.
But wouldn't you know, Brenda called me at work around 11; it was going to be "baby day" after all.
And so it blissfully was.
Aine O'Leary was born at 10:25 p.m. Jan.21....just a couple of hours ago. Aine (pronounced Anya) is the gaelic name for "Anne" and our Aine is a 7.5 lb. beauty!
Brenda was superb. Scott was superb. When I left them, they were giddy and finally nestling down for some alone time with their new daughter.
What an awesome experience it is to assist at a birth; I'm flying high now. It doesn't matter how many times I do this ( I'm up to 6 labor and deliveries now); it's always new and wonderful.
I have a picture of my new baby on my phone but don't know how to post it. Tomorrow, when I check in with Scott and Brenda, I'm going to ask Scott to email me some of the pictures we took, and then you'll see this Irish beauty for yourselves.
