Our house in Solesmes

At the left of this photo (taken just outside the Monastery walls) you'll see where Dad and I stayed last year. It's just behind the lampost. The very edge of the photo shows a gate, which leads to the bigger house, where the girls stayed, both last year and during this past visit. And if you follow the sidewalk down on the right, that's where Dad and I stayed. Uncle Michael told us it was Lita's favorite house - where she preferred to stay the last years she spent in Solesmes.

Dad "checking out" quiches for dinner while shopping for our daily baguette.

And this is it: the door to our house, #10. Here Dad is about to go in with a loaf of fresh baked bread. But, of course!

The houses in Solesmes are all rather dark - as you can see from this photo of our kitchen. The window leads to the street.

Years ago this house was fully renovated with Michael being in charge of the project. The upstairs was "blown out" to make room for 2 bedrooms. The staircase belonged to another house and was brought over for this one. A portable staircase? Who knew!

And here's the living room, which leads off of the kitchen. The couch. It was the couch that had Lita sold. She loved the couch. The small colorful pillow? That was hers. And the painting above is one of Michael's.

The living room leads to the patio. It's enclosed and beautifully adorned with plants, also Michael's doing. Those large plants in the background are bamboo trees.

The view from our house towards the Monastery.

I KNEW it was the couch even before I read the caption. Of COURSE that's a Lita couch!
