Our Sweet Pea

6 hours old. We met him briefly before heading out to surgery. He was baptized before this.

4 days old (yesterday).
I think his hair might end up blonde. His skin is surely sensitive enough to be pale, as you can see below and in the video. He was born with a strange rash that's healing and peeling. No harm Paul, you're pretty enough.

Tiny legs and ankles, with oh so sensitive little toes.

Poppy and the littlest one.

2 minutes of a baby sleeping? Yup. : )

Paul, we love you so much, all of us.

Mauricio Revisited

I cannot breathe, I'm laughing so hard.

And leave it to Martha to be the one with the balls to ask.

Wow, that was so worth it.

I just talked to mom and she was disgusted as well! Said dad called and was like SHEILA??

I just emailed annie. This HAS to be a joke. If not, I will tell her straight up how much everyone hates it!

Tea, plez?

Well, Baby Leo/Sheila will be making his/her big entrance toute suite! (I don't care if that's the right spelling.) I know from plentizy of experience that we will be needing help. To that end, I thought I'd end your suspense, and let you rest again at night by answering your burning question: "In lieu of bringing another onesie, how can I REALLY help?"

Visits, of course:
Frank will be home for two very tired, though I'm sure very wonderful weeks. But I know from the many surgeries and of course Luca's birth that while we won't have the energy for entertaining, fresh faces like a good shower are always helpful when you're stringing blurry days together. And then of course when he leaves, I would love company.

Fresh Food:
We're doing our best to keep the fridge stocked with fresh foods. But of course that has it's limits. So, fruits (esp oranges, grapes, bananas) and veggies (esp broccoli, spinach, and veggie-platter-type-veggies that are easy for us to snack on), organic full-fat yogurt, cold cuts + iceberg lettuce (our substitute for bread), orange juice... just some ideas of what would all be very welcome. Basically things that make eating healthy on the go easier. Maybe some Fudgecicles..... maybe...

Meal Prep:
I've cooked and frozen as much as I can, and am done partly b/c I have no more room, partly b/c I have no more energy. Many are partial meals (the sauces, or the parts that can freeze and thaw and not be nasty.) Any help finishing the prep/bringing the needed ingredients of these meals would be heavenly:

- Lasagna: Missing the dairy (from store) -- 2 cups full-fat Cottage Cheese, 15 oz carton full-fat Ricotta cheese, & Parsley

- Chicken Marsala: Missing a container of Sliced Mushrooms (from store)

- Chicken Pot Pie: Missing buscuits (ingredients here at home)

- Chicken Parm: Missing, well, the fried chicken tenders (ingredients most likely here at home waiting quick breading and frying, unless I go into labor tonight before I have a chance to get more chicken...)

- Falafel: Missing Scallions & Cilantro (from store)

Um, that's all I can think of now......
In advance, I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
We love you all, and can't wait to meet this little Baba Ganoush!!

Novena for the Wee One

As many of you know, our ultrasound for the baby is on December 28th at 10am. We will learn then how the baby is doing, and if s/he has spina bifida.

If you would, please start a novena today or tomorrow, first that we may all accept God's will in this, and know that it is a gift and is exactly what we need. And second to ask that if it is His will, that this little one be healthy and whole.

I feel pretty strongly that St. Dominic has been charged with watching over this baby. I can't find any good novenas to him. But as he is the one through whom Our Lady gave us the rosary, even a Hail Mary and a personal prayer would be wonderful.

Love,
the G's
