Day 3 - The Magic Kingdom- Kind of

OK, so I realize I write like I talk, but I don't care.

In order to make the most of a day in Disney, you need to get to the park just before it opens. And you need to ride one of the Disney buses to get there, which takes some time. This led to us waking Maggie to go to The Magic Kingdom. Instead of rushing her into suntan lotion and an outfit, we decided to let her be lazy. So we boarded the bus at 7AM with her in her PJ's and we fed her in the stroller while we wated for the gates to open.

They have you check in with your ticket and then you wait in a huddle for them to ceremonially open the gates. Cinderella and her prince, and Mickey and others came out to trumpets at the top of the train station below. We were all below the station as the confetti shot out and they welcomed us to the Magic Kingdom. As silly as it is, we got used to this treatment, and it did feel a bit magical.

The crowd filtering in.

That's Uncle Brian with the bag carrying Lilly, and Grandma is looking back.

Debbie & Lyla.

Oooooh! Our first glimpse of Cinderella's castle. You have to walk through it to get to Fantasyland (one of 5 lands in the Magic Kingdom), which was our goal. We stopped at the baby station first to dress Maggie and we were off. We rode the clasic flying Dumbo ride and then Snow White. During all this, Maggie was a bit out of it. We decided to take her to Pooh's Thoughtful Spot to play around.

She got to hang out in his house.

And there were slides and stuff to get some energy out of her system. She loved it.

Then we went to ride It's a Small World After All.

After that she started to get really fussy and tired and she wasn't at all interested in the Mickey 3D show we saw. It wasn't until after our lunch with Pooh, that we realized it wasn't just crabbiness. Apparently she was suffering from mild heat stroke. We had to take her to 1st Aid. Below you can she that she wanted to be awake to enjoy Pooh's parade and her lunch in the Hundred Acre Wood, but she was fading fast.

The grogginess is setting in. After we left, she threw up in the stroller and was shaking and not responding to me. It was pretty scary. We had to go back to the hotel and she spent 3 hours sleeping off a 102 plus temperature. We were pretty sure the rest of our day would be wasted, but we risked taking the ferry to Fort Wilderness to have our dinner with Mickey, and the rest of the O'Mahoney clan.

Maggie and Lyla.

As you can see, she perked right up. She actually ate some food which she hadn't done all day. She danced with all her new friends ( she kept squealing "Micky Mouse!") and was in very good spirits when we boarded the ferry home.

This was the smile I was looking for all day and did not get until almost the end of the night. We weren't able to put her to bed until almost 10 with the boat & bus ride, but she was happy. We ended up giving her a bath and Motrin @ 2:30AM to bring down her fever which came back. We were really nervous about what would happen the next day, but after a night in the pull-out couch with Mommy, she woke up happy and ready to go.

Awww, I thought it was cute that she was still in her PJ's. I liked the picture too.

Oh, well, you'll just have to suffer through the rest of my posts!
