No real Dad/Johnny construction had been done since just before Labor Day but that doesn't mean work wasn't being done. Before the job could continue, both the plumber and electrician had to do their thing so that the inspector could OK the changes. On Sunday Dad put in some required insulation and yesterday the inspector gave the OK to close the floor.
Yesterday the kitchen began to take on a better look.
Dad and Johnny began closing the floor.
Leo spent the morning with us, wrapped in his blanket for warmth. He exclaimed when he walked into the house, "Your bridge is gone!"
And later, much to his surprise, Leo was asked by Johnny, did he want to drive in one of the last nails?
The brick began to be framed, ready for the electrician to do his final thing. Once that is done we need only one final inspection before Jimmy comes in and does his thing :)
This is our temporary kitchen as my field kitchen is gone for the time being. The stove hasn't been hooked up since late last week so we "dine" on sandwiches (thank you, Maureen, for the wonderful pork you sent home) or use the rice cooker and the grill (and microwave) to prepare our meals. Speaking of meals and micorwaves: I now bring home meals for 2 days from Cheesecake when I babysit Henry - what a treat! Thank you, too, Catherine!
Although the temps have dropped considerably, we are still able to use the patio for our meals. I "cooked" some frozen spinach - first time since beginning of summer we have't had fresh veggies - and prepared a tomato salad. Our tomatoes are about gone but I saw 2 contenders while I was on the riding mower yesterday. What a treat that was. Here you see Dad dipping into the salad while the chicken grills.
