Un Mauvais Rêve

I've been back on Chantix for a while now to try again to wean off the weed.  One of the side effects of Chantix is very vivid dreams.  Well two nights ago I had one I've not forgotten.  We were living in an old house in the country and the G's were living nearby and up a hill.  I was suddenly accosted by frantic people saying that Leo had gotten aholt of my rifles and was playing with them.  I hurried to the G's and on the way met Leo who got a very stern warning from me.  When I got to the G's I found my rifles had been badly treated and one of them broken (having been dropped from an upper bunk).  It seemed that everyone there was crying. Frank was sitting at what seemed a kitchen table silently weeping.  It did no good to tell them that my rifles were harmless since there was no ammunition.

In what I can only describe as a "side event" I opened a door and saw Annie giving Leo and Luca what looked like expensive guitars, only to watch then gleefully break them.  The smile on Ann's face said: "This is how you raise boys, let them do whatever they want."

Suddenly there was a multitude surrounding me and screeching:  "Why don't you have a gun safe at home. Don't you know how irresponsible it is to have guns that aren't locked up?" The hateful din went on and on.  For the first time I knew what it was like during the Cultural Revolution in China to be PUBLICLY SHAMED. I was on the verge of surrendering my self-respect and giving in to PC when my sore shoulder woke me up.

I found myself giving a Luca-style shit eating grin while reading this. You know the one. Put a cartoon on and he wears it the entire time.

Up until the public shaming, that really could have described any day around here.
